Don't know because I just got mine. This is my 7th or 8th kindle and I have had that problem with a few of my others. I think the contacts in the charging port of the kindle just wear down and don't make good contact. Over time I have noticed that the charging end gets loser and loser til it does not charge anymore. Thus the many Kindles I have bought.
