• The warranty starts as soon as you regester it with Amazon. Sign in and it's taken care of as long as it's a new kindle that's not refurbished.

• No sorry that's a manufacturer warranty while you may run into a situation where Best Buy would replace it within return policy after their policy it must be fulfilled through amazon
