You can choose your stream quality by holding at the same time toggle down and home button

So if you are using a cable service app that you have service through that does not offer 4K then this would not increase the resolution to 4K. It would still stream in the native content settings available for that platform. There are different apps and services available through the Fire Stick that would allow you to stream 4K content (some may require a subscription).
