If you're going for the whole Kodi/off the grid setup, this probably isn't the device for you. For one thing you're going to need tons of storage. For another, Amazon isnt keen to their products being hacked. You don't want to break tos and wind up with a paperweight. I suggest doing some research online. Reddit is always helpful (if you're respectful and willing to learn and do a bit of your own research)

Yes, you can install KODI, but as with all unofficial apps, it must be sideloaded rather than from the Amazon app store.
