“We stream all our tv/movies. Quite often the sound wil quit and go off for anywhere from 1 minute to 30 minutes before it resumes. Will this firestick resolve this issue?”

This could be a problem with your surround sound or your TV or your current streaming device. So it's not possible to tell if just a new firestick would fix this issue

If your audio cuts out due to an internet or bandwidth issue, you would still need to troubleshoot reasons why your internet isn't steady as that would not be fixed by using a different device. It is still at the mercy of your internet speeds and bandwidth. If your audio is due to speaker issues with your TV or audio receiver, that would also not be rectified by using a different device.
