If it is a stock Amazon product then no. If it is a hacked device that you can stream unauthorized content then yes it is illegal.

I don’t give legal advice since I’m not an attorney, but your cable company can’t tell you not to stream on your TV., so ignore your friend.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The FireTV is not illegal. Streaming pirated movies and TV shows is illegal. As long as you’re not doing that then you’re fine. Either way, if your internet service provider is notified that you’re streaming pirated content then they will send you a letter telling you to stop. If you don’t stop then they will cut off your service and the movie or TV studios that reported you can sue you.
