This is a ereader not a tablet so no to messenger but you can share reading status to facebook and twitter and goodreads. You have to purchase audio books it is not free. It is not text to speach like the robot voice. Audibles you purchase seperate and they are narrated by a real person.

If you are a Kindle Unlimited customer, there are some "free" books that can be borrowed (including the Audible content). However, I have not found anything I've wanted to read that was available with Audible content through the Kindle Unlimited service. If you do purchase both the Kindle and Audible versions of a book, the Kindle allows you to swap between the text (Kindle) version and the Audible (Audio) version of the book at the touch of an on-screen icon. Whisper-sync has been supported between Kindle and Audible books for some time now, and the service is no different on the new Oasis. The Kindle app on Android and iOS has a neat feature, in that if you have purchases both text and audio for a given book, the app will "read" (play the audible content) while highlighting the word being spoken (so that you can basically read along with the audio.) This feature is NOT available on the Oasis. When you switch to Audible mode, you get a very plain, playback screen that features normal play/pause/rewind icons along with the title's book cover art.
