“Does this router have a night mode? The ability to turn off the bright lights at night while keeping the router on?”

Yes, it is set up as 10-8 by default, but easily adjusted. You can also turn the lights off or down very easily.

As far as I can tell it usually turns off the lights and screen in the evening automatically

Yes - Amplify Alien not only has a Night Mode, but you can either dim the light or completely turn it off.
