“Why doesn't it come with a charging cord? I can't use it right away, very inconvenient and now I have to go search for the correct cord and where to buy it since I got it as a gift and it's been sitting in the drawer for 4 months.”

To be fair the manufacturer doesn’t know what you plan to use it for, meaning either apple or android devices. Including both would only drive up the cost of the device. Would be a little more convenient if the USB C port could charge your devices though.
