“Sorry for such a basic question. I want to use this with my HP Envy laptop when I travel. Before I purchase, I presume there are install files or drivers that will allow me to drag things between the two screens to better my workflow? Thanks!”

The monitor comes with an installation CD. However, each computer that I have plugged it in to automatically installed appropriate drivers and immediately started working. It will function the same as if you had connected a standard monitor, based on your display settings.
