Yes you could use this as a backup battery for your Cpap machine. I looked up a Cpap and it uses about 57 VA. This unit is 1000 VA at 120VAC so this could give you about 17.5 minutes of backup power. Now if your concerned about short power outages to keep your Cpap running during this type of issue this unit would work well.
