• You don't have to. Just sign in to your Ipad with the Apple ID that you are using on your Apple phone (if you are using iPhone). Then it should syn together, but if not then sorry you are out of luck

• As long as you have an apple iphone with an Apple ID you should be able to link them together, but the iPad will require WiFi to receive the text. So if you take the iPad out and their is no WiFi connected you won’t receive text.
