Just to be clear--is there no way I can add to the storage capacity later on? Are there no ports for connecting an external drive? I have a MacBook Pro. I suppose I could just store stuff on it & access it with my iPad, right? null

I don’t think you can add storage to your iPad but you  can get as much storage as you want by using iCloud for a dollar or two.  No ports to connect other devices.

I believe you can but you must bring it in to an apple store to not void the warranty
