After the initial setup, I found out that the iPad 9th gen uses 8.09GB for the iPad OS and 2.06GB for System Data. I would assume that this will change especially when there’s some system updates in the future. Also, if you will not use some of the preinstalled apps (like Garage Band, etc), you have the option to “offload apps” to free up some storage. You can always reinstall them from the App Store any other time.
