Overall, the main difference is just how they operate. For example, take the Macbook Air vs. Macbook Pro. The Macbook Pro is much better for editing, gaming, etc. The Macbook Air can still do all of those things but it will harder and slower on the computer. That is similar to these iPads. The Air will still be a good option but not as fast for high power things.

Please try again later.In my experience using both the iPad Air and Pro; the Pro is faster, brighter/faster/slightly bigger screen, and is better for playing games, editing, and running office Apps. Now you can do everything that an iPad Pro can do, just that some things like editing video/playing intense games like COD or Microsoft apps, you will notice some stutter or sometimes the app will crash on you. The Pro, your less likely to experience those things.

The main difference is the Pro has drawing and graphic capabilities that the Air does not offer. As far as their operating as a laptop computer, they are basically the same. My daughter does a lot of drawing and graphic designing (as well as playing more games) so she opted for the Pro. For my everyday use the Air works great for me and is fast. I can play some simple games on it but have never tried any more complex gaming on it.
