You can backup whatever you have on your old iPad on your apple account Mac/ iCloud storage etc. then transfer it to the new iPad either way you’ll have to wipe the old one of everything it has before trading it in its apples policy

If you have a USB storage device that connected to your iPad, that can be moved over to your new iPad. You can transfer the contents (pictures, documents, music, etc.) of your old iPad by performing a backup (using iTunes or apple cloud service) and moving to the new one.
