I had a 32GB 2017 iPad that I used for note taking and it lasted all four years of college no problem. I offloaded previous semesters’ notes into Google drive to make more space for games, but definitely didn’t need to. If you only intend to use it for note taking and school work, a 64GB should be fine. If you intend to do video or photo editing, digital art, or play a lot of games, I’d recommend scaling up.
