Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My understanding is - a resounding no. You have to buy the newer, higher priced pencil for this version, which I did. It has a flat side and it attaches magnetically to the iPad for charging. This is a great improvement over the old pencil and it’s ridiculous method of charging. Since it is easier to recharge, I use it much more than I did the old one.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.According to Apple, no.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, but there are limitations. You cannot charge the old pencil on the new iPads. The old pencil uses a Lightning connection under a cover at the head of the pen, and the new pencil uses magnetic charging (or gauss field effect). The new iPad Pro's have a USB-C port and will not handle the Lightning connector without an adapter (which I suspect Apple makes and charges their normal outrageous pricing model).
