You can connect it to your wifi and use it without a cellular connection. But only if you are within connection distance to either your or another wifi. The good part about it being cellular and wifi is that if you are not within a wifi range, it will still work anywhere you have cellular phone service.. ATT cellular for any tablet is $10 a month plus the taxes, etc. so it ends up being about $12 to 14 a month for cellular as wifi costs nothing to connect to. Hope that helps.
