Yes. No wires, works with Bluetooth to a device like iPhone, Chromebook, etc. I love them... am listening to War and Peace while working around the house doing laundry, dishes, meals, etc. I just need to be in range of my iPad, for me about 20-30 feet. Bonus - you can set it up in settings to tap one EarPod twice to pause, then double tap again to play. Or the other EarPod to tap once to forward a song / track.

Those AirPods are Bluetooth, that is how they connect to your phone. so you will have to enable your Bluetooth on your phone for everything to work.
