How long is the battery life? Can it be turned off/on remotely to save/extend the battery life? I have some some very expensive construction equipment I'm looking to use this for. TIA for the help. null

It states on the documentation with them that the batteries last approx. 1 year checking several times a day every day. They take a CR2032 button battery.
