You can play 4 or 6 I believe, atmos or stereo only works with two and it sounds good but if you Have them individually, then each will play the same sound.

I don’t believe there is a limit, but could be wrong on that. I’ve had 8 playing at once with no issues. Strong Wi-Fi and faster internet speeds I believe play a factor.

For e-arc TV use two HomePods can be used. For playing media within the home from an Apple device, any and all HomePods or other compatible HomeKit speakers. You can’t use these to create surround sound with additional speakers for tv use.
