The A8 chip inside the HomePod does automatic EQ and echo cancellation with beamforming for the tweeters. Screenshots from the newer versions of iOS show support for manual EP controls as well.

It is perfectly balanced; I wouldn't change the treble, bass, or mids even if I could. It adjusts itself based on the song that is playing and where the speaker is placed.
