“Is the 2nd generation Apple Pencil compatible with this ipad? I Bought them together and I can't figure out how to connect it. I put it on the magnetic strip and nothing happens, even if I lock and unlock the screen. Any suggestions? Thanks.”

No, You have to use the first generation pencil. I started using mine on Monday and it works great. I paired my pencil with the I pad in about 15 seconds. All you do is stick the pencil into the charging port. Make sure the Bluetooth is turned on. When the pencil shows up on the screen. Unplug and your good to go.
