Amazon Fire is loosely based on an older version of the Android OS and with iPad, you're crossing both architectures and interfaces. If you are okay with Amazon's interface, then perhaps a Samsung or other Android-based tablet will be more familiar to you (and your data.) If your data is stored in the "cloud" you will have better luck moving from Amazon Fire to Apple iPad since there's usually a version of the same app for both systems. For example, if you have Kindle books, then moving to the iPad version of the Kindle App will be trivial. If you use Google or Yahoo! email, there are apps on both platforms. Again, the key is the data was in the cloud. If you have other document files, you may have to copy them off to an SD card and move them through a PC or Mac since the iPad is harder to plug in additional storage without an adapter.
