If your old phone is another Apple device then back-up is your responsibility and all you have to do is make a icloud backup using your existing phone and when you activate your new phone, you'll be prompted to choose whether or not to set it up as a new phone or restore all the information from a back-up.
If you are an android user then you need to back up your phone first to your Google account using settings; install all the Google apps on your new iPhone, create the Google account on your new iPhone to include Gmail etc... and all your info will be there.
