I purchased the “Latest model” which is the 2020 MBA (review product specs). This product has a 10th gen processor (faster), touch ID is integrated into the keyboard, and the display has True Tone technology - just to name a few features.

If you are focused on price then, and you want a basic computer to get your tasks done you would want to go with the MacBook Air which starts at $999. It comes with a dual core processor intel i3. However the base model MacBook Pro 13 inch comes with an intel i5 processor with quad core processing and 256 GB. This laptop starts at $1,299. The difference between the base models is one comes with a little bit more processing power, as well as focused to the performance. Now, getting to your question. The MacBook Air 512 GB is basically like getting the base model pro without the touch bar and graphics performance it is priced at $1,299. The MacBook Pro 13 Inch with 512 GB starts at 1,499. It would offer more storage and a little bit more processing power. Personally I would recommend the MacBook Air upgraded. This would be great for processing, simple college tasks in an instant.

The MacBook Pro has more thunder ports and is seen as more of a “powerhouse” laptop compared to the MacBook Air by apple. However the upgraded processor is the same one in the current apple MacBook Air without the m1 chip. So ultimately it would depend on what the buyer wants from their laptop. More thunderports would mean the possibility of more external connections without a need for dongles or adapters. However the MacBook Air still comes in an assortment of colors which may make a difference to the buyer. Both computers are similar in terms of their processors, backlit keyboard, Retina display and Touch ID features, very convenient.
