I’ve seen a few people mention similar issues. Sometimes it’s related to the battery or pairing problems. I’d recommend trying to reconnect it and making sure it’s charging correctly. Since it stopped working after 8 months, you might still be covered under Apple’s warranty, so it’s worth checking.
