To access all the features you will need to purchase a new 2nd gen pencil.

I was unhappy to find out the new iPad Pro only works with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil. It (The iPad) has USB C so it will not charge or even recognize a first generation Apple Pencil. I bought the 2nd generation and was happy that at least it wirelessly charges when attached to the iPad so there is that.

No.there is no converter adaptor.you need the pencil that’s comparable with your iPad.
