Is this pencil compatible with the new generation of iPads which are not necessarily iPad Pro? I know they are stylus compatible, just not sure about the magnetic attachment ability and the wireless charging. null

no--this is only compatible with the new ipad pro. it only syncs and charges via the magnetic connection. ipads without that won't be able to sync up.

It’s only for the new iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 (3rd gen). And the first gen pencil will not work with the new pros.

No, the new 2nd Gen Apple Pencil ($129) only works with the new iPad Pros. The older Apple Pencil ($99) works with the smaller, non-iPad from early 2018 (6th gen) and the 10.5" iPad Pro (or other iPad Pro models on clearance).
