Your usage will depend on your service provider. I was able to transfer our Consumer Cellular service SIM card to the phone. My first "pre-owned" phone had a failing battery. Best Buy replaced it with what appeared to be a new one. I think you can rely on getting a good phone, either re-furbished or new.
