“I have maybe a first or second generation Apple TV. Will I lose any shows that I've purchased if I update to the 4th generation? Sling TV is incompatible with the generation that I have so I need to upgrade.”

I just upgraded from second generation Apple TV to the latest, and didn't loose any TV shows or Movies. They all should be attached to your iTunes account, so when you sign in with your Apple ID onto the Generation 4 all of it will come up, it will just look different as they seperated out TV Shows and Movies.

If you bought shows using your apple ID, i dont think you will lose it.
