Apple TV does not broadcast any stations, and it does not broadcast local live shows.

Yes, mostly all your favorite networks have a downloadable app that allows you to watch shows and live tv. It also depends on your tv subscription (if you have one). I use my direct tv account to login to these apps and watch all my shows.

It will not broadcast local channels alone u less you have something like YouTube TV, Direct TV Now, Hulu etc. you can however get an OTA antenna, and set up a Plex media server on a PC and stream that to the Apple TV

For a platform use it’s great for 4K on Netflix and Hulu. Local stations are not a factor.
