• Yes, you can do this. The Verizon app on your phone can share to Apple TV. You might want to also try the streaming apps for channels you like to be loaded on the Apple TV. This will provide the best picture and will not tie up you phone

• I'm able to stream from an iPhone 6 and it works fine. As long as you update iOS on your phone, you should be good.
