• The apple tv is equipped with an hdmi output port which is capable to transmitting both hd video and audio to your hdtv with only one cable. if you have a surround sound receiver in the mix the apple tv also has an optical (toslink i think) audio out, just run a toslink fiber cable from the atv to your stereo. some newer receivers also have hdmi inputs if yours is compatible you should just be able to run the hdmi from the atv to the receiver then a second hdmi cable from your stereo to your tv.
