At this time it will work on cardio machines like treadmills and bikes. It will give a very limited calorie burn for lifting weights. There are big rumors floating around that Apple is working on a device to attach to barbells and dumbbells that will transmit info to the watch. If you swim st all it is great for that also.

Yes it tracks all of that. There are options under "workouts" for indoor walk, indoor run (treadmill), strength training, and cycling, and lots more!
