Go in, and try them on. Do what feels right for you. I have the 48mm, and my wife has the 38.

Most males use the 42 and females use the 38. We purchased one of each size. The difference is not really that noticeable. Spring for the apple care at 2.66/month and don't worry about cracking screen.

get the 42mm and the screen is pretty solid unless your banging your hand everywhere then i would get a protection screen

I am 5'11" and 210 and I though I was going to go with the 38 too, but after trying both on I bought the 42.
