You'd have to get the watch with Cellular service and then connect it to your Apple account so you can use the Find My Phone function with it. Otherwise the watch has to be linked to a phone to be able to find it.

But it is a very expensive watch and if he is destructive or careless, he could damage or lose it. If he is only 3, I would not recommend it. It is an adult’s watch. I don’t even think it would fit a 3 year old.
