The phone connects through Bluetooth, WiFi, and LTE. It picks the most efficient way. Ie. it won’t use LTE if your phone is right next to you and will use WiFi if you are on the same WiFi.

If you aren’t connected to LTE or WIFI and your phone isn’t connected to either, you won’t have data data functionality. If you have cellular service, you will receive phone calls and messages
