I just got one about a month ago shipped to my house and all I did was add it to my AT&T account on my phone and it was up and running. No need to see anyone.

You can buy the Apple watch4 at Best Buy and bring it home and pair it with your phone. You just have to call your carrier if you purchase the Watch with cellular and they take of everything over the phone. No need to go to the store to activate.
