i currently have a samsung gear s3 that works great i can call and answer calls with the watch i did not have to add to my plan or anything my daughter has an iphone from what im understanding you have to set up a plan for this new cellular/gps watch null

You can make a call as long as you are connected to wifi without a cellular plan for your phone.

its great. her phone doesn't have to be with her at all times. calls get forwarded to the watch. school, sports,or jogging with out your phone. you can still call and send and receive text messages and even track the unit.
