Make sure that you are not being charged by your carrier for an extra line for the watch. I believe it maybe so that the functionality can work without your phone being near. Your mobile carrier can answer you better.

This Apple Watch model does not have cellular capability. This is a GPS only model.

The extra line for the watch is in case you don’t like to carry your phone for example for a run, work out, hike.
