yes. It even has Pool Swim and Open Water Swimming workouts in the Workout app. Plus if you have water in the speaker there's a function to play a tone and clear it out.

I believe it has a water mode but I have not tried it yet. A friend who has had one for a long time told me I could wear it in the shower and it can get wet, but he wasn't positive about swimming with it. I would check with Apple to be certain.
