I like the watch but I'm not exactly sure what the "Cellular" part does. Do I need a separate phone number for this watch? Do I need to register it with my carrier and if so does the carrier charge additional monthly fees? null

If you pay your cell carrier extra, you can attach your watch to your phone account and you can make and receive calls and use the data on your watch without the presence of your iPhone! Usually the cost is $10/month.

2 options …. First, you can use WiFi Bluetooth with your iPhone, no extra charge.  Second option you can have another number (cellular) but it will cost extra with your wireless company.

The Ultra 2 does have a cellular service capability. But no, you don't have to use it. If you decide to activate it, yes it gets it's own phone number and your carrier will have a monthly fee. AT&T charges $10 per month for a Watch. I can't say what other carriers might charge.

You link it to your phone account. It uses the same number and pay about $10 a month for the service. You do not need tour phone to be within range to talk because it is connected to the cellular network through your account

Yes you need to go to your cellphone provider and they will hook it up like a cell phone, but it's not really a cell phone . 
I think it's usually $10 a month to be on cellular data. That means you can leave your phone at home and still do phone calls or texts or anything with your watch !

Cellular allows to be able to leave your phone behind, and still be able to make calls and texts etc. you will need to contact your carrier and and they will give your watch its own phone number. But the phone they give you for is just so they can keep it separate from everything else. It will connect through your phone’s number. So when someone calls your original phone number it will still come through the watch. As for additional charges. It’s 10 dollars a month plus taxes and what not.
