No. You can do almost everything from your watch that you can on your phone. It does, however, use a lot of battery if you did it all day. Now, just going out for a run using the app and music is not a big deal. But being able to leave your phone at home is one of the best features. It will also work with Spotify. It is a bit tougher to search and play specific music, however. Best used if you are just choosing playlists that you’ve already made.

You can download your playlist or album in the Music app and play it from there. There is no headphone jack for Apple Watch, so it should work with Bluetooth headphones as well.
