“So if you add arlo essential to your existing arlo pro2 hub do you have to pay for the 1 week of free reply after 3 months? I would like to upgrade with the light on the camera but not if I loose my 1 week free replays.”

Your Arlo Pro 2 cameras will will continue to have all the benefits that were included with the purchase of your camera. This includes free rolling 7-day cloud recording. The Arlo Essential Spotlight camera comes with a free Arlo Smart trial. When the trial expires, you have the option to purchase an Arlo Smart subscription. Without an Arlo Smart subscription, you can still live stream, and receive motion and audio notifications with your Arlo Essential Spotlight camera. ^RM
