Yes WiFi is required and it will not record without. I believe there’s one that has cell service with it, but on these the cam itself has no storage ability and it communicates to the base with WiFi. In fact the base has to be hard wired. That part got me.

Yes they both need wifi since it relies on it to record on Arlo's cloud and to give you motion alerts. No wifi also means no live feed viewing from the app
