NO. You can log in to the app from your phone or computer to view live what's going on in front of them.

yes if you use the basic install and battery only. But you can hook up electric wiring to them and they can continuous record if you choose. They can record to USB stick or cloud server - but you have to pay for the continuous recording on the cloud server I believe.

Yes. Battery is effectively off when camera is off. You will notice that the battery of your most active camera drains faster than the others. But that said, the battery of my most active camera (triggers several times a day) lasts about 3 months.

Yes, unless you go into the app and turn on the device or look at that time through the app/the device you want. It records 5 minutes each time it detects movement, a person, vehicle, animal, or package. (And yes, it can tell the difference.)

Each camera's ability to detect motion is active so long as the camera is turned on and has power (you can turn each camera off through the app). But the cameras will only record if they detect motion. Also, if the camera is running on battery, there is a slight delay between when the camera detects motion and when the recording starts, but the recording will start when the motion is detected if the camera is plugged into an electrical outlet.
