You can place your Arlo camera a maximum of 300 feet (90 meters) from the SmartHub or base station. The maximum line-of-sight range of 300 feet is reduced by each wall, ceiling, or other major obstruction between the camera and base station. ^RM

On my 11 acre estate, I have one at the front gate which is 285 feet from the hub, unobstructed, outdoors, line of sight. I get very spotty and totally unreliable performance from it, usually missing about 50% of the activity altogether, and the rest of the video capture pixelated and almost unintelligible. I have one camera 95 feet from a hut that is supposed to capture cats going in and out of a pet door. It, too, misses about half of the action. The one camera I have on the front porch about 30 feet from the hub works flawlessly. The only problem I see with it is the unpredictable amount of time the unit will record. Sometimes racoons and possums are running around in front of the camera and it cuts off after 20 seconds. Sometimes it keeps recording for over a minute. These things are not reliable unless very very close to the hub. Expect to miss the first few seconds of any activity. I get a lot of blank recordings when I know a racoon ran past the camera. 20 seconds of nothing. After 7 years one of the cameras has lost all except the red channel. And after a couple years the rechargeable batteries only last about a week before needing recharge. Two of the cameras incessantly badger me to "upgrade your cameras's firmware now", which I attempt to do repeatedly without effect. These cameras are not ready for prime time if you ask me. But they are about as good as the state-of-the-art provides currently.
