No monthly fee or sign up necessary. Cameras work great, the monthly membership does add storage and extra features, but the cameras will work with the app without a subscription.

I have my 6 outside essential pro with spotlight cameras running through my Wi-Fi, and so I have a monthly plan through Arlo which costs $12.99/ a month. That is everything and it has limited data from what I remember. I have a couple busy cameras that cover the roads and stuff, so I literally get sometimes hundreds or thousands of photos/videos. It does cycle over every 30 days. But I thought that was cheap. And it comes with customer support etc.
